Tukwilla Vineyard

Dundee Hills AVA, Oregon

In 1990, Kathy and Lee Miller planted the Tukwilla Vineyard in the Dundee Hills AVA. While the majority is Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris, the Miller’s wanted to experiment a little and planted one extra row of Dornfelder.  This rare row is at the end of a block planted at 200 feet in elevation and in Woodburn soil. The Dornfelder is a stark contrast to its neighboring Pinot Noir with huge clusters of super high acid grapes the size of golf balls. It may be the only Dornfelder planted in Oregon and while not much wine can be made from this tiny row, it is one of our new favorites.
